But what is it? Today’s digital marketers work at the intersection of creativity, planning, and technology. Not only do they create tech-driven marketing strategies, but – because of their ability to glean insights from real-time data – they also help drive business and product innovation.

Digital marketing can be incredibly useful in a wide variety of careers. From business and entrepreneurship, to journalism and advertising, the digital marketing skillset will teach you how to effectively channel your message online using modern tools and best practices.

Week 1:
Global Studies
All of our programs begin with an immersion into your chosen city. Take classes about the city's history, culture, and current events to understand your context. Explore your surroundings through iX-sponsored excursions.

Weeks 2-3:
Skills Bootcamp
Start building your skill set—quickly. Our collaborative, workshop-style courses, taught by industry experts, will push you to learn faster than you thought possible. Finish up with an impressive portfolio of class projects, and get ready for your internship.

Weeks 4-6:
Internship
Go beyond the classroom with a guaranteed internship. Work with a company abroad to apply your gained classroom knowledge in a professional environment. Finish up with a clear deliverable to show future employers.

Throughout the 6 weeks, there will be readings and reflection pieces that prompt you to connect your international experiences, skills training, and internship. The entire program will add up to 6 credits from the University of Virginia. By the end, you will have a deep understanding of your city in a global context, and a powerful set of skills and work experience to accelerate your career.

iX classes quickly prepare you to create real-world value. Small class sizes mean you build personal relationships with your teaching team.

  • Fundamentals

    Digital Marketing Fundamentals

    Core components of a business, segmentation within the market, identification of key audiences, target personas with a customer empathy map. The use of data to map marketing back to channels and the consumer journey, and implement key metrics like return on investment (ROI), customer acquisition cost (CAC), and lifetime value (LTV).

  • Tracking

    Tracking, Action, and Analytics

    Learn the role of various digital channels for a business and its customers, and differentiate between broadcast, direct, and social channels. Search Engine Optimization (SEO) strategy, SEO tactics for web content, click bidding, bid management, and budgeting. Dive into the basics of Google Analytics to measure your campaign performance, including concepts like goal tracking and micro/macro conversions.

  • Sharing

    Brand, Social Media Management

    Create a social ad campaign for Facebook, Twitter, and/or Instagram. Produce a strategy that outlines key messaging, content mapping, distribution, and measurement.

  • Critical thinking

    Critical Thinking

    Ethical issues and debates within the marketing field, and making ethically-informed judgments on these issues.

This is the first summer of iX's Digital Marketing program, so we've included examples of internships from other courses for you to explore.

Our internships are different from the usual. Instead of leaving you on your own, we provide you with daily support and occasional classes to cover additional material. That means you'll be able to create huge value in a short time—all of which you can add to your resume to show future employers.

iX Financial Aid

iXperience offers direct need-based financial aid to all qualifying students. Your eligibility for financial aid is determined entirely by your demonstrated need, and you'll have the chance to apply along with your iX program application. STEP 1

Build your summer. (5 mins)

Use our application platform to choose the best city, course, and date combination for you. Not sure what combo to pick? Don't worry – you can change your selection after submitting your application. Our Admissions Team is always here to help.
STEP 2

Choose between a written application or phone interview. (30-45 mins)

You can write our short application essays, or choose to schedule a phone interview with one of our admissions consultants, if the option is available. Our advice? Just be yourself!
STEP 3

Confirm your eligibility. (10 mins)

In order to receive your admissions decision, you'll need to confirm that you are in good academic standing with your home institution and that you are approved to study abroad. We'll send you a form to complete with your study abroad advisor to make this easy. We highly recommend meeting with your study abroad office and other advisors about your summer plans.
STEP 4

Get your admissions decision.

You'll hear back in 2-4 weeks. Earlier applications receive quicker decisions and preferential admission. After receiving your decision, you'll have opportunities to ask more questions about the program or even put your parents in touch.
STEP 5

Secure your spot.

As spots at iXperience are limited, we encourage our admitted applicants to secure their spot in the program by paying their deposit.
